I bought another straight USB C to USB A adapter to use with an external HDD connected to my USB hub. I placed the hub under my monitor, so I had to raise height of the monitor to accommodate extra length. This adapter solved the space problem, and I can keep the monitor lower at my eye level. I also use a second one for a flash drive. So far, there is no problem. Also,there are three adapters in the package where most of the alternatives sell two for about the same price.
