I was looking for both to extend my current usb ports on my laptop as well as a mini SD card reader and this one fit the bill. The dimensions of this USB 3.0 card reader is Approx. 3-1/2" X 1-1/2", The cord i would say is Approx. 6" long or 7" if you include the usb end.it's plug N' play as my laptop (Acer Aspire 5), easily recognized it when i plug it in. It very easily recognized my mini sd cards immediately as well as my flash drives. I tested this USB 3.0 card reader in both Windows 10 (64 bit) & Linux Mint 20 and had no issues at all.The USB 3.0 card reader worked as advertised, It enabled me to transfer files from a mini sd card to flash drive and vice versa with any problems.The only minor complaint is i felt was that the cord was a bit short but nevertheless i liked this portable USB 3.0 card reader. Underneath it has a grey rubber pad to minimize from it sliding. Another thing worth mentioning is that all the ports light up in blue and no there's no switch to turn it off.Overall i am pleased with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.I hope that this short review were to be of some help.I got this because my Mini PC has limited USB 3.0 ports and I needed extra USB port to power by computer speaker. It looks very stylish with all aluminum alloy body but it has rubber pad on the bottom so it stays put.I can use it to read various memory cards but what I was most impressed with was the speed of USB 3.0 ports.It was lightning fast to copy big files when I used it with USB 3.0 thumb drive. It seems to be much faster than other USB 3 ports.I highly recommend this to anyone who needs various memory card readers as well as those who need extra USB 3.0 ports on their computer. It's a very simple plug and play without needing any installation at all. 5 out of 5 stars!I was pretty skeptical at first as to if I was gonna get advertised speeds for my micro SD cards but boy was I wrong! This adapter gave the exact advertised speeds and it worked out the box!Transferring items to and from the micro SD wasn't an issue either.Build: Pretty sturdy and has a rubber grip at the bottom to stop it from sliding. The adapter is plastic with an aluminum feeling for the face.Only con i can think of is that the USB could be longer. The USB cord is only about 6-7 inches long from the hub.Works great. It could have used a longer cord to facilitate more placement options but all things being equal some may prefer the shorter cord since it would be easier to add to, than to subtract from, the existing cord length. In fact I'm on the hunt for cords just the right length to fit my setup without coils of wires flopping about like so many fishing worms in a can. Aside from that the hub is sturdy, nice looking and performs well.This product was easy to use. I had one already, so I knew what to expect. I have a photography hobby I enjoy with friends. And this year has us plenty of great moments here in Los Angeles and we have lots of memory cards and USB.I needed a USB 3.0 hub and this one met my needs. It’s nice looking, well-constructed and has features that were a nice add-on for my needs.The only thing I would possibly change is the USB cable, make it plug-able on both ends that way it is easier to store when traveling.Love that this doesn’t feel like a cheap piece of plastic... Feels solid, and is still lightweight and compact enough to toss in my computer bag! Appreciate it so much!Nice small hub and does not take up much room on a desk. Have not had any problems with it reading any of my memory cards.
