These are the following Apple devices that support 4K60Hz with the new Duo: iPad Pro 11-inch iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd & 4th Generation) MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017 and later) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017 and later) iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017 and later) iMac Pro (2018) For Windows devices or devices that use Chrome OS or Linux that would use the extension cord, you would need to check if your computer is DisplayPort 1.4 compatible through the USB-C port. IF the POWER LED at the front is not lit or the hub has a connection problem/any other problems, please find us at Amazon messages. DO NOT USE: Do not charge your iPad using USB-A port on this USB C hub. USB-C port supports charging the iPad with USB-C to Lightning cable. Do not use if your MacBook Pro has a cover. But the USB-C port can support the Apple SuperDrive through an USB-C to USB adapter. Please connect 1 hard drive at a time. MacBook Pro 2017/2016: please push in the hub hard enough to make sure the POWER LED at the front lit. Also place the provided leather case underneath the hub, making a steady connection. I use a mouse at my work desk and my old hyper drive burned out! Was lost without extra USB ports and Monitor connection- The Hyper Duo 7 has all the ports I need to get back up and running! it's nicer, sleeker, sturdier and attaches better than my previous model. My new Macbook Air only had two USB-C ports so this was a necessary purchase. The adapter works great and I have used it to download photos from memory cards, as well as support devices that use the old USB. Be sure to plug it into your computer until you hear and feel a click.I've been using this dock for 2 years, and it's always worked near-perfectly. You can find lots of docks that look like this and appear to have a similar port selection, but when you look into the details, this one has lots to offer that its competitors don't measure up to:- The Thunderbolt 3 port can actually do 4k resolution at 60 Hz refresh rate- The TB3 and HDMI can both be simultaneously connected to screens (I don't think the HDMI does 4k@60Hz though; dual 4k@60 is a lot to ask)- The non-TB3 USB-C port can be used for charging. This is SO important. So many other hubs use the same port for both power delivery and connecting an external monitor, as if no one ever wanted to connect a charger and a monitor at the same time! It's tragic how hard this is to find, but this dock has it. Admittedly, the 2nd port only charges at 60W, but who cares? It charges.- All the USB ports are USB3. No guessing, they're all fast.I leave this dock on my desk at home, connected to all my peripherals. When I come home, I just flop my Macbook on the desk and connect this one dock, and I'm fully connected to my desktop setup. It's fantastic. (Note: I do connect my speakers through the headphone jack on one of the USB hubs connected to this dock, since the dock doesn't have a headphone jack.)That said, there are a few very minor hiccups I've encountered: First, the dock fits in fairly snugly, but if it gets pulled out a little bit, it loses its connection. With up to 5 cords pulling on the thing, this could happen fairly easily if you're not careful. So make sure to route all the cables you plug into it in such a way that they're not pulling it out of the Macbook.Second, this dock has a tendency to momentarily disconnect and reconnect all USB devices on it when you plug in a power-hungry USB device. This isn't an issue for a mouse or keyboard, but if you have a USB hard drive plugged in and copying files, it's going to be an issue. So be careful of that.Ultimately, these 2 downsides are very minor compared to the fantastic convenience of only having to plug in a single device to be fully connected to 2 monitors, speakers, keyboard, mouse, etc. Overall, this dock is really nice, and if I had to replace it today, I'd probably just buy another one of the same, since I haven't seen anything better on sale since it came out. This hub is disconnecting constantly from power and external monitor... enough so that I need to replace it now to work with my clients who are depending on me to deliver a high quality, uninterrupted video conferencing experience for up to an hour (I'm a therapist). This style of device that jacks in directly to the side without cables... it's too fragile I believe, so I'll be looking for something that has a flexible cable to a solid box with good video and power connectors.I had the previous generation of hyperdrive adapter, and LOVED it (it lasted hundreds of days of use and this was a replacement). While this 'works,' the HDMI connection is incredibly flakey. Type too hard on your keyboard and the computer stops talking to the monitor; leave it for a few minutes and the monitor goes into sleep mode. (Using a fairly new HP Monitor, 2020 model)This could be an issue of the Mac M1 talking through the Hyperdrive, but it is definitely a much less robust option than other adapters I have since tried.*purchased May 2022, have used almost 2 months*I love the idea that this product has. It supports many different features, and some of them (particularly the SD/micro SD capabilities) work well.I tested this product on a newly-bought MacBook Pro (the latest model from 2019) running the latest Catalina OS (the strictly-64-bit OS could be part of the problems I've experienced, actually... I had to upgrade to set up Bootcamp Windows 10, so that may be worth noting if you're planning to buy a MacBook Pro while looking at this product)The issues came from the USB ports and the HDMI port: Even without plugging in any other USB-C cords, I plugged in 3 USB-A cords: A bluetooth-based mouse adaptor, an Xbox 360 Wired controller, and an external portable WD hard-drive. While all 3 were able to read properly for a while, it didn't take very long before they started to (what I assume) use too much energy from the laptop's USB-C slots and repeatedly disconnected/reconnected.The Xbox 360 Wired controller works just fine if it's the only cable plugged in. The WD hard-drive worked as a sole, USB-A cord for about an hour before it starts behaving strange. Finally, the USB-A wireless bluetooth mouse kept disconnecting even though it was the only thing plugged in.This product also doesn't play nicely with my hardshell casing I got from Best Buy: It takes up too much space because it's supposed to attach directly along the side of a significant portion of the laptop. One solution could be to cut off the conflicting parts of the shell to get the extra space to use both, but this is not an ideal solution.I had these same issues with the Anker USB C Hub to USB-A. If you're looking for a simple USB-A to USB-C solution, what worked for me was the "JSAUX USB-C to USB A 3.0 Adapter 2-Pack, [Side-by-Side Use] Aluminum Thunderbolt 3 Type C Adapter"... Just note that, with a hardshell casing, you can only plug in one of those at a time on either side of the laptop. This adapter can get the job done in small doses, but don't expect to use it for long periods of time (so like less than half an hour or so might be okay before it starts short-circuiting on you). Unfortunately, this also means you can't, for example, watch movies on fullscreen and output via the HDMI cable, because it will only last for so long before it starts going haywire.Nice device, matches the style of my Mac well. One thing to be aware of is the USB-C connections are very snug and leave little room for error. meaning that if you do not fully insert the device and press it in firmly it will get disconnected from your Mac. The first few times I used this, my screen kept switching off whenever I caught the adapter with my hand which was very annoying. I was going to return it as faulty until i tried pressing it in more firmly then it seemed to settle down.small but perfectly formed. Connected to my MAC in 2 seconds and worked like a dream, no driver install required. As always Apple add ons are not cheap but this one is worth every penny. Not a snug fit. For something this price, they should have really tested how well it fits. I have a macbook pro 15" and the thing does not fit well enough. USB connection is also flakey. If you try to plug in a monitor using usbc in one of the ports it doesn't work, even with the HDMI port unused.Very useful adapter for my new Mac Pro. Great variety of plug in options. Only criticism is that the SD card slot is so tight which concerns me and hopefully will not damage my SD cards. Time will tell.Small, compact and works great with 2017 MBP 13.
