This works at USB 3.1 Gen 1 speed not Gen 2 on my desktop. USB 3.1 Gen 1 is the same as USB 3.0. They are exactly the same thing. Most companies put 3.0 instead of 3.1 gen1 to save the customer from confusion.This is not running at 3.1 Generation 2 speed. I read a lot of other reviews before purchasing this item and the problem i was trying to avoid (3.0 speed and flipping the cable to get a connection) problems unfortunately exist in this product. My Desktop has both USB 3.1 Generation 1 and Generation 2 connectors and the speed was exactly the same.
